I'm assuming that each one of us have signed contracts one way or the other. So what are contracts? It is a binding agreement between two or more persons that is enforceable by law. Personally, more often than not, i don't read contracts. I simply sign without reading in details what is written. I don't ever realize how important it is to read before affixing your signature. However though, most contracts may contain some terms or items not fathomable by our half-witted minds. It is by this instance that we should contact and seek help from a contract law attorney who knows better. As most contracts would entail money, we should be vigilant than sorry. We wouldn't want to put our fortune in vain, would you? It just came to my mind because a friend recently have problems regarding contracts and i feel sorry because it could have been avoided had she been more careful.

Back when I was still schooling, i didn't have all the books per subject. It was too costly to buy them all. My parents already had a hard time giving me money for the fares, let alone spending on books every semester. But you know, that doesn't stop me from learning and graduating. All i need to do is to borrow books from my friends and schoomates and have the lessons for the day photocopied. Or i go to the libraries. In some instances, my generous friends would let me borrow their books. Sometime last week, I had nothing to do and strolled outside the campus. The school has plenty of adjacent shops and it's also near the wet market. I was surprised to discover that my favorite spot before nearby the school for photocopying services is now one of the biggest printing companies in the city, somewhat similar to EcoQuest printing in Tennessee. When i come to think about it, had it not because of my perseverance. I woudn't have finished schooling then. See, if there's a will, there's a way.

Others find pleasure in reading books. They would go to some tranquil places to read books and find it very relaxing. I'm never like that. I'm not a lover of books. At least not so much. I did some attempts but i can count with my fingers the number of books i actually finished reading from cover to cover. Reading is a very powerful hobby i believe. When you read, you acquire a certain degree of knowledge. Back in college, all my co-working students in the lab were all busy reading computer books. They made sure they make most of the time while inside the lab and no students are around. I, on the other hand was just busy editing my homepage. I wish i did learn more by reading more of programming languages books. Part of me regretted those lost times but a part of me don't because i found great joy in making homepages. But it's never too late, you know! I'm living in a city where beaches are just minutes away, i might as well spend my time reading a book in the beach one of these days. If you are business minded, I think these Dennis C Carey books at BN can be of your interest.

August 03 - Glorie and I went to Tabugon, one of the towns in North Cebu. We were to visit Madame Amy - finally we made it! We were supposed to go last year but we failed to do so. Our third time to meet Madame Amz (as well as our third time to meet Madame Phoebz, see previous entry) They both by the way are from France. It's nice that they get to visit Philippines often. :)

I told Glorie we'll meet at the North bus terminal at around 9:00am. She arrived first and decided to stay inside the bus already. I was on my way when she texted me that the bus was about to leave and that she got off because i wasn't there yet. When i arrived...

Glorie: nah nilarga na ang bus, ninaug na lang ko
Ako: (sakto gyud akong duda so nangutana ko) unsa nga bus imong gisakyan unta?
Glorie: Tabuelan!
Ako: Maau kay maabot gyud ta ug Tabugon ato! (Wahahaha!)

So, we took another bus, this time the correct one - bus via Borbon & Tabugon. It was about 3 hours bus ride. It turned out that, that Sunday was the wedding anniversary celebration of Madame Amy and her husband. :)

We went back to Cebu in the evening because i had to work the next day, Monday (though it was a holiday).

trip to Brazaville in Hinobaan Negros

Last July 25-27, Glorie and I, went to Hinobaan Negros Occidental to witness the 18th birthday party of Phoebe's daughter, Colleen. It was an invitation we can't afford to say no. Not my first time to go to Negros as i have been to Bacolod in 2004, but it's my first time to visit Brazaville. I sure can't miss the occasion, the beach and of course meeting Madame Phoebz and her family.

I took a leave from work on Friday (25th) since the party was on the 26th. Glorie and I met in the south bus terminal around 7:00am hoping to get on board the bus that will transfer us all the way to Hinobaan but we were told by the bus drivers that such trip is available only at 1:00am. We were suggested to just take the trip to Bato in Oslob and ride another bus from there.

So, here exactly is our route:

cebu south bus terminal--> bus ride to Bato Oslob (around 3-4 hours)
Bato Oslob --> fastcraft to Tampi (i think it's near Dumaguete? or Tanhay?) 20-minute ride, we're lucky the weather was perfect for sea trip
Tampi --> bus ride to Kabangkalan (waited for about an hour for the bus, too many passengers because they said it's Tanhay's fiesta), it's a 2-3 hours bus ride
Kabangkalan --> Hinobaan, yey almost there! lol! another 4-5 hours bus ride

We left Cebu City around 7:30am and arrived in Brazaville past 7:00pm. Probably a long trip but we couldn't care less. We were picked by Madame (pagkabongga sa driver ha) in the bus terminal. Then met her husband and kids for the first time in person. I'm mesmerized by Colleen! I'm overwhelmed how can this very 'tisay' girl speak the local dialect (Inilongga) so well.

On Saturday morning, Glorie and I had fun posing and playing in the sand. We hope we could be of help in the party preparations but i guess everything was already covered and planned by Madame Phoebz.

The party ended around 12:00mn. Finally went inside our room around 2:00am. Glorie and I didn't sleep because we're afraid we'll miss the bus at 5:00am. We went out of the gate at 4:00am and waited for the bus. 'Twas good that we didn't have to travel to get to the terminal 'coz it's still dark. It was really a pitty that we were not able to bid goodbye to Madame in person. Only her cousin knew that we were to leave the morning after.

The party was a great success with all those preparations and presentations - Madame Phoebe, the mother of the debutant, made sure the occasion will be cherished by all those that attended.

Again, to Madame Phoebe, thank you for inviting us. We truly enjoyed our stay. :) Hope to see you again soon...

Back to Cebu, we took the bus that will transport us all the way to Cebu south bus terminal. Instead of the fastcraft, we took the barge from Dumaguete to Liloan Oslob. (since apil man ug sakay ang bus, dili maigo sa fastcraft oi! hehe!) Daghana gyud namo ug palpak ni Glorie! Hapit mi nabiyaan sa bus pag lunch. May gani kay nakashagit pa mi ug nakahunung ang bus! Waahhh!

4-day-weekend

What can a private employee like me ask for when all stressed out and exhausted at work!? Of course, nothing else but vacation! Bakasyon ug laag! Mao na ang tambal aron maulian. O di ba? Agree mo nako? I'm sure ang mga laagan sama nako mu agree! :P Well, i think outings are always nice for diversions.

I had my fair share of relaxing days last weekend. I took a leave from work last Friday and off I went to Hinobaan, Negros Occidental with my friend Glorie. We attended the birthday party of the daughter of our friend, Phoebe. Her majesty, the ever gorgeous Phoebe, has invited us since last year to go to her place but i was not able to make it last year. I couldn't miss the chance this time. The trip was a bit tiring but was all worth it. The resort she owns is stunning and definitely has amenities like that of hotels. It was a wise idea though to get home on Sunday because i really had to rest after the long trip. I woke up noon of Monday already. There goes my subject 4-day-weekend. :)

I really like to travel though i hate the idea of having to ride in a boat or a plane. But i really like to go to places. If only i have all the money in the world then i must have gone to a lot of wonderful places already. Traveling is fun but can be tedious especially on choosing where to stay. There could be lots of hotels around but choosing the best ones at affordable prices could be tricky. With the advent of online booking, hotel reservations should be easy.

I'm planning to go on vacation this December. Hopefully it will push through. I already have some ideas on where to stay but i gotta make sure yet who among my friends are coming. Can't wait!

July 13, 2008 - my pre birthday celebration (first of three) in Portofino Beach in Mactan. I spent it with my family so it has to be on a Sunday when nobody's working nor at school. Family hugely means - father, mother, aunts, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces. They went to the beach early for the kids to have more time to play. Me? As usual, woke up late and went there just in time for lunch :)

Last April 27-30 was a long weekend for me. No work on Friday because of the Kadaugan sa Mactan holiday & Monday being swapped to May 1 Labor Day. While everyone else was out of town, I cannot contain myself just staying at home. I should have been going to Camotes but plans changed. So Glorie and her cousin and I went off South of Cebu - Kawasan Falls in Badian Cebu and Aqua Cainta in Talisay...

B.E. Christmas Party '06

I'd like to say that the party last Friday was a success. Thanks and congrats to the organizers. Not all joined in this annual department activity but nevertheless it was fun. For the benefit of those who do not know, B.E. stands for Body Electronics, one of the two major groups in our department. Technically speaking, it wasn't a department party but rather just a group party. The supposedly department party did not push through because the Electro-mechanical group opted to go to Alcoy on the same date.

I was surprised when i saw on the news later that evening about the typhoon that hit Legazpi in Luzon. It was a pretty sunny fine day in Cebu.

Trip to Mindanao: Day 4 - back to Cebu

Since the boat left at around 4am already, i did not make it to work that working day. Good thing i was able to sleep during the voyage so i managed to get to the office at around 7pm and get some important things done. Oh by the way, boarding was really horrifying. Lots of queues before you can finally get inside the ship. There's the inspection, getting of ticket (i forgot what's the ticket for), another inspection, dog sniffing, etc. Then another queue just to get our beddings! We were offered free breakfast because of the departure delay. Anyhow, the great experience we had were all that mattered.

Trip to Mindanao: Day 3 - aftermath

The white water rafting was the climax of our trip to Mindanao. We were all drained up after the 3-day goofing. On May 7, Monday, was our scheduled trip back to Cebu. Original estimated time of departure was at 9:00pm, then moved to 12:00mn, then moved to 3:00am. We had to do something while waiting for the time. We all just wanna sleep but the boat is at 3:00am yet. So, here's us after the tiring but fun days...

Trip to Mindanao: Day 3 - continuation

The white water rafting experience was totally super! I really can't believe i made it! I think i had called all the saints during the entire ride. If i may say, i was able to conquer my fears. But not that much since i did not jump from the raft and went swimming. It's just way too scary for me. :P

Trip to Mindanao: Day 3 in Cagayan de Oro

After two fun filled days in Camiguin, we then went to Cagayan de Oro the next day, April 7 for the highlight of our Mindanao trip - the white water rafting adventure. We took a bus to get to the port then get an hour or so barge ride bound to CDO. We arrived at the 'assembly area' at past 12:00 noon where we had our lunch. You could try some of their other adventures like canope walk and slide for life while waiting for your jeepney ride down to the starting point of the river for the white water rafting. We immediately took the ride bound to the starting point after lunch. We were divided into two groups. After a few minutes of general orientation and safety instructions, we were all set for the ride of our lives! There's no way i'd back out! Hek! Hek!

Trip to Mindanao: Day 2 in Camiguin

Ok, here's the continuation entry for our trip to Mindanao - Day 2 in Camiguin. We woke up, ate breakfast, then took a 10 minute pump boat ride to White Island. The boat ride was short since the cottages we stayed at was near to the island. The beach was superb! Picturesque view - white sands, clear water, blue skies, sun beaming. What more can i ask? :)

We went to Katibawasan Falls in the afternoon after lunch. Took lots of photos as usual. Then went to Enigmata, had dinner and then went back to Ardent Hot Spring...

Trip to Mindanao: Day 1 in Camiguin

Finally, i made my first trip to the Southern part of the Philippines last April 4-7, 2008. We left Cebu City on April 4 @ 8:00pm aboard the Shuttle Ferry. We arrived in Camiguin port at 8:00am but was able to disembark at 10:00am already. Our patience was tested, it took time for the ship captain to get the ferry near the port because of the winds. There must be some better explanations for this but i can't explain any further. We then were met by the multicab driver my officemate's friend contacted for us. We ate our lunch first then went to our cottage. After changing clothes, we immediately hit the following places in chronological order:

3. Sunken Cemetery
4. Sto. Nino Cold Spring
5. Ardent Hot Spring

Hadsan Cove

Since I had a long weekend last weekend because of the Holy Week, i was contemplating not on my sins but on where to go to. However, i may not do all those traditional religious holy week stuff that most Catholics do but I normally would just stay at home. I could have gone to Bantayan Island with friends but for some reasons i did not. On Thursday i was so bored i asked my friend Glorie to hang out anywhere not at home. We ended up chatting and idling in Hadsan Cove, an old inexpensive beach resort around Lapulapu. It was not much of an eventful day but at least i was out... :D

One of the beach resorts that i consider a favorite one here in Lapulapu is Plantation Bay. Of course, to many (including me), it's more of an expensive resort. So, whenever I am invited by a friend or a company activity is being held in the resort, i am more than excited. I really like it there. The views are nice and in the evening the ambiance is really romantic. I could only wish i was with someone special when i was there sometime last year. :P

This year's company beach outing and family day will be held on April 19 in Maribago Bluewaters Resort. It is where we held our department summer outing last year. The picture on your right is taken during last 2004 company beach outing and family day in Cebu Beach Club or was it in Tambuli? I forgot already since the company occupied these adjacent beach resorts. Then again, i still look slimmer in this pic, lol! I was lucky i was just in time for that outing because i just arrived from my business trip/training in Michigan then.

What greater way to celebrate the first day of March than a day at the beach? Cool huh! We spent the first day of the month which falls on a weekend at the beach in Portofino. Portofino is just one of the many beaches here in Lapulapu City. Apparently, it's Mellany's last outing with us :P You sure will find new buddies girl, but perhaps not as beautiful as we are! Ha ha! :P

department strategic planning

Serious tahay ko ani na pic! So... our department strategic planning pushed through last Friday in Tambuli West Beach Resort. The original plan was to hold the activity in Plantation Bay. I was more than excited then. Anyhow, the activity went fine and the venue and food wasn't bad after all. In fact, the food was great. The said activity was spearheaded by our senior manager, attended by the section managers and section lead engineers. Later after dinner, we enjoyed an hour or so at the pool. Pictures will be posted some other time.

The trip to Sumilon wasn't all fun i tell you. It was the time of the year when nature is not at it's best - meaning windy and big waves to hurdle. The pumpboat could not make a stop to its supposedly port (there should be a better term for this) because the pumpboat will be crossing against the current. We stopped at the other side of the island instead and since it's not the original place for disembarking, there was no sturdy passage. Hurdling through the big waves while inside the pumpboat was already insanely terrifying, let alone climbing through the rocks of the island while my knees were still trembling? Whew! what an adventure!

how to get there?

Yah, how to get there? in Sumilon? Just easy.
1. Go to South bus terminal and get a bus ride going to Oslob.
2. Drop off in Sumilon main office or receiving area. (just near the main road so chances of getting lost is unlikely)
3. Wait for the pumpboat to transport you to the island itself and viola enjoy the beach! :)

Note: For day tours, have your reservations first....

Whew! Amidst the busy christmas rush in the air, I was off from work yesterday. I went to Sumilon Island with friends. Yes, it's December and beach outing for me knows no month or season! hehe! Sumilon is located in Oslob, south of Cebu. I had fun. It could have been greater if it's summer. Anyways, i'll post photos later.

We arrived in Boracay maybe around 6:00pm already? I'm not sure, i forgot! LOL! :D We checked in immediately and rested for a while. We then stolled around the area to spot some nice place to fill our hungry stomachs for dinner. We strolled more after and hit a nice bar for drinks. I was lousy, i should be partying and all but i went ahead and slept early. LOL! :P

I finally went to Boracay with friends last weekend. I had to file for a vacation leave because our flight was on Friday. Flight to Kalibo from Mactan was delayed for almost an hour. So instead of leaving at 1:05pm, the plane took off at almost 2:00pm already. Arrived in Kalibo in less than an hour, took a vhire ride to Caticlan. Took a pumpboat ride for less than 30 mins then another tricycle ride before finally hitting the whitesands of Boracay...

Another tourist spot of Bohol is the Loboc River. If you have seen the movie starred and directed by the movie actor Cesar Montano (sorry i forgot the title), then this place will come off a familiar one. What's nice is that they have these floating restaurants. So you enjoy your lunch while you feast your eyes on the views.

Bohol as you may know is not only famous for the so called Chocolate Hills. It is also known for it's Tarsiers. Tarsiers for the benefit of those who do not know are nocturnal arboreal primate of Indonesia and the Philippines having huge eyes and digits ending in pads to facilitate climbing; the only primate that spurns all plant material as food living entirely on insects and small vertebrates and is believed to be the smallest monkey in the world.

My first time to Bohol was last 2004. I went to Bohol again last weekend with coworkers and expats. It was a fun day for the sun wasn't that glazing. We toured around Bohol and it was a nice experience once again.

Lenny's wedding last December 2005 was held in Plantation Bay in Mactan. It was actually just a renewal of vows since they already had their church wedding in Spain on the same year. It was pretty a fabulous night. :) Oh before i forget, that was my first stint as a program host during wedding parties. LOL! :D

Last weekend was a blast. Me and my friends went to Kota Beach in Bantayan Island. It's a 2-3 hour-bus ride from North bus terminal to Hagnaya plus another hour of ferry ride. The trip was very okay since it was very sunny. No motion sickness for me to worry :P Unfortunately though, I suffered hyperacidity after our dinner. I freaked out, i almost cried for my tummy hurts badly. I failed to bring along some medicine and no pharmacy was open in the vicinity. Thanks to the "white flower" liniment (that i only brought) and for Macelle and Mellany's massages, it saved me through the night. For the most part of the trip, it was a very enjoyable one. I can't wait to go back! :P Special thanks to Alfer for showcasing his photography prowess! Naks!
